Any day is a good day, if you’re at Ambleside Park in North Vancouver and the sun is shining. Add in chef-prepared canapés, sun umbrellas, crisp white linens and jazz, and now you’re having a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Approximately 80 happy PARC Retirement Living residents did exactly that in early August, donning their best hats and all-white outfits to spend a delightful afternoon on the beach, while being catered to by PARC staff for the first annual ‘White Tea Party.’ The refined event seemed to take a page from England’s Royal Ascot… minus the horses and celebrities.
As sandwiches were nibbled and tea sipped, the group enjoyed their idyllic vantage point while being serenaded by the sounds of Company B Jazz Band. The event was part of the 10-day Harmony Arts Festival, an annual festival hosted by the District of West Vancouver , with PARC Retirement Living sponsoring the event.
Judging from the broad smiles all around, the whole afternoon seemed to be everyone’s perfect cup of tea.
It was so well attended and enjoyed in fact, the event was highlighted in the September/October issue of The Journal on Active Aging.
