Welcoming Athens Creek Retirement Lodge into the PARC Family

Written by PARC Retirement Living

In December, Athens Creek Retirement Lodge in Penticton officially joined the PARC family, marking our first expansion by acquisition. It’s a huge milestone for PARC, and we’re thrilled to welcome the Athens Creek team and all of its residents into our fold.

Athens Creek has been operating since 1997 and offers 80 units for independent seniors. It caught our attention several years ago, as we began planning our expansion into the Okanagan region. What impressed us most about Athens Creek was the quality of the wood-frame building, and the positive feedback from residents. We knew that working with this team would align with our mission to provide high-quality senior living experiences in the best locations throughout BC.

Athens Creek becomes our seventh residence in our rapidly expanding collection of uniquely designed senior communities. “We look forward to offering Athens Creek residents the same exceptional service that PARC is known for, and we’re excited to welcome the Athens Creek team to the PARC family,” said Rainer Müller, founder and chairman of PARC.

A series of firsts for PARC

Athens Creek represents several unique ‘firsts’ for us at PARC. It’s the first residence we have not built from the ground up. And it’s the first wood-frame building among our residences. All of our six other residences, including our newest community in Kelowna – Cristalina PARC – are concrete structures we built to the highest construction and environmental standards – with distinct characteristics that match their unique locations.

But building from the ground up takes considerable time. And one of the things we learned in the process of building in Kelowna is that there is a growing and immediate demand for high-quality senior housing throughout the Okanagan.

Luckily, we’re in a unique position to provide it, with our vast experience creating active, joyful and award-winning residences that are custom designed for healthy living. “The demand for quality seniors housing in the Okanagan is growing, and responding to that immediate need through acquisition helps create opportunities that couldn’t be achieved in a timely manner through construction alone,” Müller said.
