Located in the heart of Kelowna, our newest residence has a name that perfectly befits its region

What’s in a name? Well, in the case of our newest community in Kelowna, a whole lot of history, beauty, and pride! 

We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve chosen a moniker we think perfectly suits our up-and-coming community and soon to be the best senior living residence in the Okanagan.

The Seeds of a Name

The Okanagan Valley, with its sunny climate and freshwater lakes, has always been a tremendous source of life-giving energy. In 1860, on the unceded land of the Syilx-Okanagan people, Father Pandosy, with the help of the Syilx, planted the first apple seedlings. By 1900 the Okanagan soil had fostered over a million fruit trees.

As the region developed and the population grew, the City of Kelowna evolved from a rural fruit-packing town into the largest urban area in the interior of British Columbia. And it’s still renowned for its beautiful fruit harvests. 

Amidst our research, we discovered a unique variety of cherry first bred in Kelowna over 50 years ago. Delicious in flavour and specially designed to thrive in this temperate climate, it also happens to be the first cherry that blooms at the beginning of the Okanagan’s harvest season.

Its name? Cristalina: a heart-shaped, dark-red cherry. It’s beautiful and symbolic of this fruitful region, and it’s the perfect name for our newest residence. 

Introducing Cristalina PARC

Like its namesake, the new Cristalina PARC will embody the abundance of the Okanagan with its plentiful amenities and lifestyle options. 

Nature will abound both in and around Cristalina PARC, with plans for lavish plants and greenery surrounding the building, along with bird feeders, bee colonies and pollinator-friendly vegetation. The landscaped courtyard will showcase tree-lined paths and peaceful garden spaces. 

We’re also bringing nature into the building itself by way of a “biophilic design” to integrate natural spaces into all of our amenities and enhance the wellness that comes from having a strong connection to the outdoors.

Residents can also relax with classes in arts and culture, gardening and politics, or simply sit back and enjoy beautiful views of the lake. With no home maintenance or yard work to worry about, the days are wide open for the best of both worlds: exploration and relaxation. 

As connected to nature as it is to the community, Cristalina PARC will be purpose-built to meet the vibrant, active and independent lifestyle most desired by today’s older adults. 

New Cristalina PARC takes shape  

Our newest senior living community in Kelowna begins construction in 2021, with plans to open mid-2024.

If you’re already familiar with PARC you’ll know that our residences are built to the highest standards, with priority given to green building and sustainability, and this one will be no different. 

Targeting LEED® Gold standards, the 132-suite, nine-storey building will be located at the corner of Lakeshore and KLO Road, in the heart of the revitalized urban Pandosy village, where shops line walkable streets. 

Every suite is thoughtfully designed to foster active living, vitality and social connection. Ergonomic in-suite features, restaurant-style dining and a wide variety of cultural and educational activities and amenities foster health, vitality and social connection. On the rooftop deck, lush greenery, leafy planters and pollinator-friendly plants and trees will set the scene for peaceful lounging, calming yoga, relaxed dining or light gardening. 

Just blocks from the stunning lakeshore with easy access to walking paths, residents will have ample opportunity to explore the natural surroundings, engage in fitness activities, and partake in arts and culture, gardening and more, or simply sit back and enjoy beautiful views of the lake.
