Oceana PARC is officially one of the best locations in North America for active seniors to live! This December, our newest PARC residence in White Rock – opened just over a year ago – won first prize in the Senior Housing News (SHN) Architecture and Design Awards, in the Independent Living category. Chicago-based SHN is the leading source for news and information covering the senior housing industry in North America.

Oceana PARC beat out 15 other nominees from across the U.S. and Canada to earn this incredible distinction. A team of architects and interior designers specializing in senior living judged all of the entries on design, aesthetics, community integration, amenities, lifestyle and wellness.

“Architecture that is purpose-built for the older generation should appeal to the young person deep in our hearts. That youthful feeling will always be there, and the building should allow us to feel the way we always did,” says PARC Founder and Chairman Rainer Müller. “Growing older means changes to the body, but not the soul. This is reflected in our buildings.”

“It is truly humbling to have been singled out for recognition from so many reputable and well-designed independent living residences as the recipient of the 2020 SHN Architecture & Design Award. This award is an encouragement for us to further pursue our founder’s vision of creating sustainable and innovative architectural designs that enhance the lives of our residents.”

Our Oceana PARC design team included BFA Studio Architects, BOX Interior Design, RJC Engineers for structural engineering, PWL Partnership Landscape Architects Inc. Our builder was Ventana Construction Corporation. This is the fifth senior-living project that PARC and Besharat Friars Architects have created together.

The goal for Oceana PARC, from the beginning, was to create a community that elevates the resident experience to new levels of innovation and comfort, reflecting a profound understanding of aging adults’ needs. Set in the heart of charming White Rock, Oceana PARC imparts a West Coast sensibility in design and functionality, taking advantage of the town’s many attributes, including the vibrant community, a nearby beach and a historic pedestrian pier, along with plenty of sunshine and an incredible natural setting.

Outside, there is a greenhouse, garden, putting green, exterior walking loop and decks.
